Emma gasped in horror, looking around the crowded diner praying no one had heard Chase. Reggie needed to stop talking so much and there was no way she bought that many batteries. Okay, well, maybe she’d just start driving over to the Walmart. “Yes, okay. Yes. The man is a demon in bed, beside the bed, in the tub, on the counter, in the kitchen—any kitchen, for that matter,” she grumbled thinking of their first encounter yesterday. “Now keep your voice down and stop waving that fork around before I’m tempted to take it away and stab you in the eye.”

“Ha! I knew you were doing the dirty in Ruthie’s kitchen. You know we eat in there, Emma. And to think, you used to be so shy and sweet.” Cackling gleefully, Kat took a huge bite of her chili cheese fries.

Emma glared at her. “If you weren’t my friend, I’d pray those fries went straight to your already overabundant backside. It was your teasing about Marcus that set him off in the first place.”

“Honey, I do like the fact you used my name and ‘tease’ in the same sentence. I could get used to that.”

All three friends looked up to see Marcus Valerian standing at the end of their booth. “Mind if I join you? This place is full and I’m starving.”

Chase scooted over with a huge grin, patting the seat welcomingly. “Have a seat, Marcus. I suggest the Philly cheesesteak omelet. Very filling.”

A waitress rushed over with a besotted sappy grin, fumbling her words as Marcus flirted his way through a massive order of just about everything the place cooked, including the Philly cheesesteak omelet. Handing over the menu, he turned to see the group watching him raptly. “What? A man has to eat. I’ll burn it off one way or another.”

He gave Emma a sizzling look. “Now, tell me who I’m teasing. If I’m lucky it’s the lovely Emma in need of my teasing. You given any more thought to those cookies I mentioned? Now that Kat has abandoned me, I’m stuck with store-bought cookies.” Pausing for a second, Marcus focused in on Emma once again. “I will say you do have a certain glow about you tonight. A little more color in your cheeks.”

Emma looked at Kat in mortification. Surely she didn’t look different. Reaching up, she touched her cheeks as if that alone could will away the color. “I don’t know what you mean, Marcus.”

Marcus grinned that panty-melting grin. “Sure, you don’t. You know, whatever secret you’re holding onto in a town this size, it won’t be a secret long.”

“It’s no secret, Marcus. She’s finally been getting regular—”

Chase didn’t get to finish his sentence because Emma leaned over the table and smacked a hand over his smart-ass mouth.

She knew her face was as red as a fire truck. Chase had better be glad she loved him, or she’d have already killed him. “I apologize, Marcus. He’s an ass.”

Kat sat back in the booth wiping tears of laughter from her eyes. “Oh my gosh, I’m dying here. It is so nice to be an observer this time, instead of the victim in the, ‘Chase Watch Me Embarrass My Friends Show.’ Get him, Emma. You better watch it, Chase, she’s not that shy little mouse anymore. We’ve been a bad influence on her.”

  “Oh shit!”

Emma looked up at Kat’s panicked words. “What?”

“We have both Kincaid men stalking like lions this way and they both look a wee bit irritated at our hungry visitor.”

  “At Marcus? Why?” Emma asked.

“Well once upon a time Jack might have told me he’d spank my ass if I even talked to Marcus. I think sitting with the man for a meal might just have him getting the ropes out tonight.”

Emma would have been more upset about that statement if Kat hadn’t grinned when she said it.

“Jack, I swear, no cookies were exchanged. He only just now sat down. The diner is full and he’s hungry. Dammit, it’s not my fault I broke a rule. It’s Chase’s fault. He scooted over.”

Emma watched, fascinated, as Jack remained silent, watching Kat squirm, touching the dainty collar that marked her Jack’s sub. When Kat had wound down, Jack held out a hand. She took it without hesitation and was immediately pulled into Jack’s chest. Emma snorted out a laugh when she saw Kat stick her tongue out at her husband even as she snuggled into him. He bent his head, whispering something only Kat could hear. Whatever it was it caused Kat to try to pull back. Jack simply dropped a hand to her ass and pulled her more forcefully into his body. Kat’s shoulders slumped and Emma heard a low muttered, “Yes, Sir.”

“We’ll see you another time Emma, Chase. I have something that needs my attention.” After a lengthy glare at Marcus, Jack ushered a giggling Kat out the door with another smack on the ass.

Emma watched them go, smiling at the happiness her friend had found. Looking over at Ronan, she felt the smile slowly leach from her face. He looked a bit put out. Glancing across the booth, she saw Chase and Marcus, both watching her expectantly. She realized she must have crossed an invisible line in the D/s world. Kat had told her the Kincaids were a tad bit territorial so Ronan was probably not happy to see her sitting with a devastatingly handsome single guy. “Oh, shit.”

Marcus barked with laughter just as the waitress came by with four huge plates of food and deposited them in front of him. Unrolling the silverware, Marcus tipped it in Emma’s direction. “Little subbie, you must understand a Dom is extremely possessive,” he explained as he cut into the fluffy omelet and spread ketchup on his fries. “Not that I blame Kincaid there. You are a prize for sure, and if I’d walked up on my sub sitting with another man, especially one like me, she wouldn’t be able to sit comfortably for several days. This really is good, Chase, my man. Thanks for recommending it.” With a last wink at her, Marcus tucked into his food like the starving man he’d claimed to be, leaving her to face Ronan and his pique.

“Come, Emma. We have some things to discuss.” Ronan put a hand on her elbow and helped her from the booth.

She knew that voice. That voice made her do things she blushed over later. “If I you don’t see me in twenty-four hours, call in the cavalry, Chase.”

That earned her a stinging slap on the ass from the brute behind her.

Marcus simply shook his head with a grin aimed at Ronan. “You Kincaids must have the devil’s own luck. I envy the lesson you’re about to give to such a sweet little sub, you bastard.”

Ronan dipped his head in acknowledgement and led Emma out of the diner.

Out of sight, she watched the couples at the booth toward the back of the diner. How dare they laugh while her Master was locked away? It was their fault he wasn’t here with her. She wished she’d found Master Stone sooner. Her body ached for his touch. The days she’d spent in the courthouse with him were some of the best of her life. Closing her eyes, she pictured him as he’d been the last day of the trial.

The last recess had been called and they’d all been led back to the room to await the verdict. The lawyer told them it could be hours before they heard anything. Master Stone had instructed her to remove her clothing and kneel the moment they’d entered the room. She’d done exactly that, waiting. The lawyer had already unzipped his pants and was stroking his skinny shriveled prick. He should have been ashamed to even have it out. The Master had a cock the size of which she’d never seen and it had lovely piercings that raked her insides when he fucked her. He loved to ram it in her ass while she sucked off the older man. The dumb bastard had no idea her Master was using him as a pawn in a much larger game.

“You please me so, slave. What I wouldn’t give to be alone with you for a day. I’d lay open your flesh with a hot knife. I’d carve my name in your pussy so no other could ever take you. You would be mine.”

Threatening to eviscerate the lawyer if he made to move from the chair, Master Stone had fucked her every hole that day. When he had finished with her, she’d barely been able to move from the floor and was dripping in semen and sweat. He’d righted his clothing and sat in the chair, looking once again the polished distinguished gentleman.

  She whimpered at th
e sweet memory, to be owned like that, to be used in such a way by one as gifted as her true Master. It was a dream. A dream she’d never see come to fruition because of the bastards sitting across the room. Opening her eyes, she stared at them with hatred and loathing. They deserved to hurt as she was hurting now, as her Master suffered. He had told her to go after the brother first and she would, because she obeyed her Master.

Ronan Kincaid was a big man, bigger than his brother Jack. Size didn’t really matter. Men saw what they wanted to see, from what she’d observed in her life. The bigger they were, the less inclined they were to think they could ever fall, especially to a weak little woman.

She’d thought she would have to travel to Lexington to take care of his little playthings, but it looked like Ronan had found a sub here. Good. It would make her job easier and then she could move onto the fucking cunt who dared to try to deny her Master. Kat Kincaid was going to know pain unlike anything she could possibly fathom. Out of all of the Kincaids, she hated Kat the most. She knew her Master still wanted Kat.

During their time together, he demanded that her hair color be as close as she could to the same shade of Kat’s, and sometimes he even called her by the bitch’s name. It hurt to know she wasn’t her Masters only desire. But that would change when she sliced Kat Kincaid open from throat to belly button. First, however, she needed to take care of one little Miss Emma Black so that the lovely Ronan Kincaid could know how it felt to lose something dear and precious. Smiling brightly as a plan unfurled in her mind, she barely kept from clapping her hands together. This was going to be so much fun!

Emma allowed Ronan to lead her out of the diner, a heated thrill working its way through her body. She knew it probably wasn’t a normal reaction but all those pissed-off hot looks he was throwing her way had her panties getting wetter by the minute. If the bulge growing in the front of his jeans was an indication, he was looking forward to their “lesson” as well.

“I know we haven’t discussed other men, Emma. But you are mine. I made that clear to you yesterday and today. Apparently I need to reinforce it for you, since I walked in to find you sitting with that fucking lecher.” Ronan knew he wasn’t being fair. Hell, Marcus was a good guy. He just couldn’t stand the thought of him being around Emma. Not now. Maybe after he had a ring on her finger, a collar around her throat, and safely tucked her into their home he could stomach the thought, but not yet. He was too volatile right now. Everything scraped his nerves and he knew it was because she wasn’t his yet.

She didn’t have his collar or ring declaring to the world to back the fuck off. Oh, she’d agreed to explore submission but he could tell she thought he was just marking time until he found someone else. Screw that she was going to know he meant this to be forever. The need he had to bind her body and soul was almost frightening in its intensity. If this was what Jack went through, he owed his baby brother one hell of an apology.

Emma stopped to look at Ronan. Suddenly it didn’t seem so exciting, not if Ronan really believed she’d ever go from his bed to another man’s. It was impossible to believe that he could be jealous, but he looked agitated and out of sorts as he ran a hand through his blond hair. In that moment, nothing was more important than taking away the hurt she was seeing. She reached up, pulling that big hand from his mussed hair to rest on her cheek, and nuzzled into his palm. Her body she angled into the shelter of his, resting a hand over his fast-beating heart, and simply stood there. He pulled her into his chest fully, stroking her from the crown of her head to the small of her back over and over. She felt his big body release a sigh and he finally relaxed completely. In that moment she knew she was in love with the big oaf, had been slowly getting there over the past year. He’d wormed his way into her life in small increments and she hadn’t even noticed. He stiffened slightly when she made to raise her head from his chest.

  “Thank you, Emma.”

Going up on tiptoe, she kissed him fully on the mouth. “It’s my pleasure, Sir.”

Just as he dipped his head to take her mouth again, a loud crash sounded across the street. Ronan looked over Emma to see someone had smashed their car into one of the decorative light poles spread across the town square. In the dim light, he could barely make out a form moving in the car. “Go inside, baby. Tell them to call 911. I’m going to help the driver.” Jogging across the street, he saw the driver, a woman, trying to open the door to get out of the banged-up compact.

“Just stay still, ma’am. I sent my fiancée to call 911. The paramedics will be on their way.” Taking the woman’s arm, he led her to a grassy knoll the locals used for town events. In the light from the street lamps, he could make barely make out a nasty gash above her eyebrow. Probably from smacking her head on the steering wheel. “Here you go. Just have a seat and try to stay as still as possible. I don’t think you were going fast enough to do a lot of damage to yourself, but better safe than sorry.” Ronan could hear chatter and footfalls coming from the diner parking lot as other patrons were coming out to investigate the noise.

“Ugh. I feel like an idiot. I looked over at the diner for two seconds and next thing I knew, a dog trotted right out in front of my car. Well, a dog or a pony. It was big. I swerved to miss it and hit that lovely pole instead.”

  “Just try to stay still.”

He watched as Emma came rushing out of the diner and into the street without looking either way. The woman took too many chances with her safety, a situation he would be remedying.

“Merle called 911. Ambulance is on the way.” Falling to her knees beside the injured woman, Emma surveyed her pale face and tightly shut eyes. “How is she?”

The woman looked up at Emma with a pained expression. “She feels like an idiot, an idiot who’s going to have one hell of a headache. Anyone know a good mechanic? I think I killed my car.” With a dramatic groan, the strange woman let her body fall back onto the grass.

  Chapter 5

Pulling the spinach from the fridge, Emma smiled, thinking about the look on Ronan’s face the first time he’d watched her make his chocolate “shake.” He’d been equal parts horrified and fascinated that the sanctity of his chocolate was being sullied by greens. He had not, however, complained about the taste. In fact, he’d claimed she must be a witch to make spinach and healthy stuff taste as good as it did. An accusation of witchcraft led to talk of her dressed all in black—tight black, then just black lingerie which had quickly given way to just black stiletto heels.

By the time he’d finished dressing—or rather, undressing her—in his imagination, they’d both been hot and horny. She’d found herself once again up on a countertop with his beautiful blond head buried between her legs. He loved to eat her out. After giving her two orgasms, he’d pulled her onto his lap and slowly worked her up and down his erection until they’d both come.

They’d fallen into a bit of routine. He’d either pick her up from the café and take her to his house or she’d drive over after she closed up. He’d feed her, fuck her senseless, then tuck her into his side for a night’s sleep. She hadn’t slept at home since the night at the diner. Speaking of which, she needed to check in on Presley, the woman who’d crashed her car into a pole instead of running over a dog. Marcus’s dog, Atticus, to be precise. No one could figure out how the big dog had gotten out of the truck he’d been in, but he’d been limping around the parking lot, favoring his hind leg. When pressed by Marcus, Presley had reluctantly admitted Atticus did indeed look like the dog she’d swerved to avoid.

Marcus had insisted on paying for Presley’s medical bills and repairing her car. It had been a humdinger of a shouting match. Or so Emma had been told by the nurse who had been on staff that night. The woman had stopped in for a green smoothie earlier and couldn’t wait to spread the word. Had to love living in a small town. Everyone knew everything about you. Focusing once again on the customer in front of her, Emma handed her the warm panini wrapped in butcher paper.

  “Lord
love a duck, Emma Black. I can tell you this sandwich is to die for. I promise little Joel craves them.”

Emma smiled down at the loving hand Jennifer, one of her regulars, smoothed over her protruding belly. The other hand was busy unwrapping her sammy. “BJ is certain this kid is going to come out with grill marks and shaped like an avocado.”

Emma wasn’t convinced Big Joel, BJ to his friends, wasn’t right. Jenn was in the shop at least four days a week. Yesterday she’d come in twice. “He’s going to come out gorgeous, Jenn.”

Jenn smiled around a huge bite of her sandwich. “Speaking of gorgeous, oh, and you didn’t hear it from me, but that hunk of man Marcus Valerian, he’s up and hired that woman who almost hit his dog. Merle told Inez. You know Inez, don’t you? Runs the pharmacy over on Perkins Street. I go over there to get my baby vitamins. It’s such a hassle to get in and out of Super Drug by the grocery store. I swear they need to put in more parking at that damn Piggly Wiggly. It’s a shit show. Plus Reggie is worse than any woman when it comes to gossiping. He told our preacher that I bought some of those new flavored condoms. Well, that was back before we decided to have little Joel. That next Sunday the sermon was all about letting pornography and sinful acts tear your marriage asunder. I’m telling you, he was looking right at me the whole time. I was so embarrassed my ears were red. BJ brayed like a jackass after church let out.”

Jennifer paused a moment to enjoy another bite of her sandwich before continuing on. “Why in the world were we talking about my baby vitamins and condoms? Oh, back to what I was saying. That woman who hit the light pole, Marcus hired her to work at Hometown as a receptionist. Like those boys over there need someone sitting at that desk eight hours a day. We all know they hardly ever get a walk-in customer that don’t know to go on around to the service bay. The only reason he even does tires and such is because he gets bored in between show cars. Marcus makes his money restoring those fancy things for collectors.”
